Sharing the road with Motorcycles

Motorcycles have the right to the full lane, and they need it to maneuver in , they have to react to gusts of wind from cars passing them as well as road hazards and changing traffic patterns.
An automobile should never try to share a lane with a motorcycle there is just not enough room
When you pass a motorcycle try not to get too close or pass to fast as the gusts of wind are a real hazard .
Allow at least a 4 second following distance because the biker needs more distance to stop in an emergency and so do you. When motorcyclists are on the road with you make sure you check your blind spot every time you change lanes or do any kind of merge. Be very aware while driving at night around motorcycles , the one headlight can throw off your depth perception and make it hard to single the bike light from other headlights.
Cut the biker a little slack in extreme weather conditions , remember just a small patch of ice or gravel can spell disaster for a motorcycle.
Sometimes we may get annoyed as we are stuck in rush hour traffic and the bikers whiz by in between cars , but just remember he is in the elements making split second decisions and we will share the road but not the chances.

Take Care and Happy Motoring
